...INTERACTIVE CULTURAL IMMERSION TOURS

Ppt - Tours specializes in offering interactive cultural immersion experiences. Our popular tours include visits to handicrafts producers in both the rural and semi - urban areas where most of the artisans operate from. A majority of rural "host families" are the crafts producers as well as peasant farmers that work with our sister organization www.craftofafrica.org. This is how we tap the synergy of our two organizations particularly when it comes to networking and identifying the host families where clients on a Ppt - Tour will stay.

Our Ppt visits can take you to visit among other places, the Kisii soapstone sculptors; Luo cooperatives in Lake Victoria, re-known kamba wood carvers in Wamunyu; Ebuyangu traditional African pottery women in western Kenya, Tea and Coffee farms etc etc.

In light of this, Agri-Tourism thus Home-stay, is one of our product of interest to clients keen in having a first hand experience of a true Africa rural life set up. During such home-stays, visitors can also learn how to make crafts while out there in the rural country side as well as getting to learn other day to day life activities including using tree bark/leaves and indigenous plants to produce natural dyes which the artisans use during the crafts production process.

... INTRODUCTION TO THE WORLD OF KENYA'S INFORMAL (JUA - KALI) OPEN AIR MANUFACTURING SECTOR/INDUSTRY

As one will read about our above product by visiting www.lonelyplanet.com among other links.... Our meet the people to People Jua-kali walk, is for us a practical/interactive way of giving the visitors a better insight of Kenya and it's people.During such visits, the tourists are able to get an exposure of what Kenyans are doing in this important income generating sector in an effort to overcome the harsh economic realities in their daily lives. In many cases, the Jua-kali informal sector is the only alternative available to the marginalized urban and rural poor. In short, the Jua kali sector has ultimately become the engine of economic growth in Kenya. Most of the quality products the artisans produce are known to find market locally, regionally as well as in the international marketplace.

The growth capacity of the jua-kali sector has the potential to contribute great strides towards the achievement of Kenya's vision 2030 goal for industrialization, rapid employment generation and poverty eradication. It is a sector that has over the years demonstrated a remarkable capacity to grow even during generalized economic decline. It serves as an alternative source of employment for a majority of Kenya's population of 44 million people.
